Benidorm is one of the most historic coastal cities with the best views of the Mediterranean, so it became impossible to ignore such beautiful postcards. That is why the Mirador de Benidorm was created in the eighteenth century, also called “Balcón del Mediterráneo“, or “Mirador del Castillo“, for its location. Let’s see, below, details about the Balcon del Mediterraneo, how to get to the place, what can be contemplated from this wonderful place and, why not, review a little of its history.

The Balcon del Mediterraneo is, perhaps, the most spectacular to contemplate the immensity of the sea and the nature that surrounds us. From the most visited viewpoint of Benidorm, the “Balcon del Mediterraneo “, or “Mirador del Castillo”, you can contemplate a panoramic view of the beaches of Levante and Poniente, because it is the same Balcon del Mediterraneo that separates these impeccable beaches.

What to do at the Mirador de Benidorm?

Benidorm Castle is ideal to visit at sunset, or sunrise, and see the orange colors of these moments that the view gives us from this Mirador de Benidorm, from which you can contemplate, on the one hand, the Poniente beach, and on the other, the Levante beach. In addition, from this viewpoint you can contemplate the island of Benidorm, which is located approximately 4 kilometers from the coast.

RECOMMENDATION: Visit levante beach at dawn, and Poniente beach at sunset, to contemplate the colors in their maximum splendor.

Being open to the public, it has no cost to visit the Mirador de Benidorm, so you will only have to think about spending money on food and transfer, but not on tickets. Undoubtedly, the Mirador de Benidorm, the Castle of Benidorm or the Balcon del Mediterraneo, is an excellent plan for an afternoon with the family.

Why is it called “Mirador del Castillo”?

The “Mirador del Castillo” bears this name because it is located on a medieval castle dating from the fourteenth century and was used as a fortress until the eighteenth century. From there, you can contemplate a balustrade, which fulfills the function of a railing that marks the way forward. In this central area it is typical to see celebrations such as weddings and events, surrounded by arches and a well.

The Balcon del Mediterraneo in Benidorm began to be a tourist attraction only in the twentieth century, attracting citizens from all over the world for its incredible views of infinity. On the other hand, it is located on the old town of Benidorm, a walk that you can not miss, and that continues through the church of Santa Ana, at the end of Plaza Castelar.

How to get to the Mirador de Benidorm?

Next, let’s see what are the three roads by which we can reach the old town of Benidorm: by the Levante beach, Poniente and by the center.

  • By the Levante Beach: Get to the tourist information center at the end of the beach. Then, continue walking uphill to the Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
  • By the Poniente Beach: Turn in the park of Elche by Poniente until you reach the port. On the way, there is the beach of Mal Pas on the left. Climb the stairs near the church.
  • By the Center: To get to the Mirador de Benidorm, you must first go to the end of Ruzafa Street. Next, go along Alameda Street, where you will see the precious “palm tree”. Continue straight until you come across the slope in the form of stairs, which lead to the church.

EXTRA FACT: To visit the Balcón del Mediterráneo, you can take bus number 4 to Plaza Triangular.

First expressions are everything. Honest Service. Rented for a week from calp office . There was no hidden rip off fees which most tourists get stung by. Staff were friendly and made all clear . Even were good enough to drop car to hotel I was staying at (and picked up from) that saved me wasting any precious holiday time. Would reccomend and I'm sure i will use again. Thank you. ;) A

I've been renting cars in Spain for years and Victoria Cars has been the best experience...Reasonable prices, reliable cars, no rip off rental tricks as petrol is full to full, minimum time from entering office to driving off. Wish the whole industry learnt from the Victoria Cars service.
