Denia is a medium sized city, with just over 40,000 inhabitants, but due to tourism, it can reach five times that amount. Its greatest growth took place from the 1970s onwards; same as many other towns on the coast of Alicante that increased their capacity to accommodate tourists and those who wished to live there.
At present, Denia lives off tourism, and therefore its growth has always depended on the supply of leisure, which is linked to the services sector like restaurants, bars, and countless shops to meet the needs of those who live there.
Its location makes it an interesting city to take advantage of both the tourism offer of the city of Valencia and Alicante. From Denia to Valencia it takes just over an hour and a quarter by car, and from Denia to Alicante just a little less, about an hour.
The attractions of Denia mix the beach, the mountains, the small villages nearby and the fun of a city that welcomes tourists who arrive in the best mood.
